Spa/Francorchamps, only 20 km from the camping site!Spa is widely known for to its mineral springs. Their healing water was even known and very much appreciated by the ancient Romans. It took until the 16th century, however, before the water was commercially exploited and acquired its good reputation. Subsequently visitors began flocking to spa: all wanting to test the spring water's healing qualities and visit the numerous monuments and memorials. On a socio-cultural level, there is the Belgian Festival du Théâtre (since 1959), the French song
festival Spa/Francorchamps' racetrack boasts a number of fantastic and heroic stories dating back to the early 1920's. In the early years, Belgian and international racing drivers drove on a dirt track. Spa/Francorchamps is, thanks to its Formula One and 24-hour-races, now a world famous racetrack.
